自行车共享系统是新一代的传统自行车租赁,从会员资格、租赁和退货的整个过程都变得自动化。通过这些系统,用户能够轻松地从特定位置租用自行车,然后返回到另一个位置。目前,全世界约有500多个自行车共享项目,其中包括50多万辆自行车。今天,由于这些系统在交通、环境和健康问题中发挥着重要作用,人们对它们产生了极大的兴趣。
除了自行车共享系统有趣的真实应用外,这些系统生成的数据的特性使其对研究具有吸引力。与其他交通服务(如巴士或地铁)相反,这些系统中明确记录了旅行、出发和到达位置的持续时间。此功能将自行车共享系统转变为一个虚拟传感器网络,可用于感应城市的移动性。因此,预计通过监测这些数据可以检测到该市的大多数重要事件。
Bike-sharing systems represent the next-generation iteration of traditional bike rental services, which automate the entire process including membership registration, bike rental and return. Through these systems, users can easily rent bicycles at specific locations and return them to different ones. Currently, there are over 500 bike-sharing programs worldwide comprising more than 500,000 bicycles. Nowadays, these systems have garnered immense public interest due to their significant roles in addressing transportation, environmental and public health issues.
Beyond their compelling real-world applications, bike-sharing systems also attract substantial research attention owing to the distinctive properties of the data they generate. Unlike other transportation services such as buses or subways, these systems explicitly record the trip duration, departure and arrival locations for each ride. This feature converts bike-sharing systems into virtual sensor networks that can be utilized to sense urban mobility. Accordingly, it is anticipated that most major events in a city can be detected by monitoring these datasets.
