In this study, we have analyzed the secRNome of Listeria monocytogenes and identified secreted RNA (sec-RNA) and membrane vesicle associated RNA (MVs-RNA). Our findings revealed that the composition of sec-RNA and MVs-RNA differ from total RNA and among each other. Several small non coding RNAs (sRNA) were found to be abundant in both secreted RNA fractions. Further analyzes revealed the listerial sRNA rli32 as a potent inducer of type-I interferon response in human and mice cells.
