Cytokine polymorphism in HBV infected patients in Ghanaian population

Genetic variations in drug metabolising enzymes play a role in how individuals respond to drugs. Pharmacogene variation data in the Ghanaian population is limited and this study looks at exploring common variations that exist in our population for commonly used drugs. In addition, the study also looks at the how variations in cytokines and HLA play a role in HBV pathogenesis. Samples were validated with PCR-RFLP for accuracy 166 samples were genotyped for variations in 5 cytokines using the MassArrayiPLEX genotyping assay using the iPLEX Gold genotyping kit from Agena Bioscience. This requires an input of 40ng of DNA per sample. Samples are dispensed onto a SpectroCHIP Array and data acquired using MassARRAY analyzer. Data is automatically analyzed and acquired using Typer software version 3.99.105 for each sample. Please note that there are total 185 sample records because some of the samples have been repeated and validated randomly.
