资源简介:
This dataset provides a long-term time series of satellite-derived turbidity for Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada, using the Normalized Difference Turbidity Index (NDTI) derived from MODIS Aqua surface reflectance imagery. The dataset was processed in Google Earth Engine and compiled into a continuous NetCDF time series. The dataset contains daily, monthly and annual NDTI values across the full spatial extent of Great Slave Lake for the period 2002-2025. NDTI values range from -1 to +1, where: NDTI < 0 → Clear water / very low suspended sediment, NDTI ≈ 0 → Transitional or moderate turbidity (balanced reflectance between bands; neither clearly turbid nor clearly clear) and NDTI > 0 → Increasing turbidity associated with suspended sediments, river plume influence, and sediment resuspension This dataset supports long-term monitoring of water quality, sediment dynamics, hydrological variability, and environmental change in large northern lake systems. It is suitable for trend analysis, seasonal variability assessment, plume tracking, and integration with temperature, discharge, and climate datasets.
