This dataset contains multiple independent events, each holding simulated measurements (essentially 3D points) of particles produced in proton-proton collisions at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The objective of the tracking machine learning challenge is to group the recorded measurements, or "hits", from each event into tracks—i.e., sets of hits that belong to the same initial particle. Solutions must uniquely associate each hit with a single track. The training dataset includes the recorded hits, their ground-truth counterparts, their associations with their parent particles, as well as the initial parameters of these particles. The test dataset only contains the recorded hits. This dataset is utilized for the accuracy phase of the Kaggle Tracking Machine Learning Challenge.
