Kaupert Kopf Lukas Konstantinbasilika Trier

In den 1870er- und 1880er-Jahren schuf der Frankfurter Bildhauer Gustav Kaupert fünf Marmorskulpturen für die Basilika in Trier. Die Statuen wurden beim Wiederaufbau der Kirche zerstört. Heute sind nur noch die Köpfe der Figuren von Kaupert erhalten. Sie wurden 2001 restauriert und 2006 zum 150. Jahrestag der Einweihung der Basilika als Evangelische Kirche zum Erlöser an der Ostwand der Basilika aufgestellt. Seit 1986 ist die Konstantinbasilika Teil des UNESCO-Welterbes. In the 1870s and 1880s, the Frankfurt sculptor Gustav Kaupert created five marble sculptures for the basilica in Trier. The statues were destroyed during the reconstruction of the church. Today, only the heads of Kaupert's figures remain. They were restored in 2001 and placed on the east wall of the basilica in 2006 for the 150th anniversary of the dedication of the basilica as the Evangelical Church of the Redeemer.
