Analytical Dataset and R Code for Manuscript "Intentional cranial modifications in the Americas – the temporal and spatial patterns of potential transmissions and cultural innovations"

This entry contains the R code and 'clean' datasets used to complete the spatial analysis presented in the manuscript "Intentional cranial modifications in the Americas – the temporal and spatial patterns of potential transmissions and cultural innovations" by Ward and Sánchez-Villagra et al. Data provided comprise the point locations and ages (Years BP) for the intentional cranial modification cases (n=1722) analysed in the paper, the coordinates for the spatial analysis windows, and the regression margins used to produce Figure 3. The code covers descriptive statistics, evaluation of the inhomogenous K- and cross-K functions, Moran's I tests for autocorrelation in both the dependent variables and regression residuals), spatiotemporal kernel density estimation, spatial regression analysis (including creation of spatial weights matrices and pre- and post-regression diagnostics to support model fitting), and production of Figures 1-3.
