Marine microbial communities of different lifestyles on coastal waters

This study compared the relative effect of marine environments separately on three different microbial lifestyles: free-living, particle-attached and biofilms communities. As well as the composition of biofilms over plastic (PVC) or antifouling biocide-containing surfaces.These were analysed from three coastal waters and used to explore concepts of microbial selection and source for marine plastic colonization. We highlighted how bacterial diversity varies with ecological niche, as well as their different degrees of susceptibility to the surrounding waters.
