Dataset Accompanying the Study by Boeschoten et al. 'Tree growth after a major hurricane reflects pre-disturbance vigor rather than canopy damage'

This Zenodo repository contains the processed dataset and R code used in the research paper titled "Tree growth after a major hurricane reflects pre-disturbance vigor rather than canopy damage" (add jounal, year, DOI). In this study, we provide a first assessment of how continuous, individual-level crown damage from a major hurricane affected stem growth. Key Finding: Contrary to expectations, pre-disturbance growth was a stronger predictor of post-storm growth than biomass loss or competitive release. Our findings highlight the resilience of surviving trees in this hurricane-prone forest and demonstrate that modeling large-scale disturbance effects must account for local context and individual responses.
