资源简介:
A cabinet photograph of the interior of the Azusa Foothill Citrus Association packing house, Azusa, California, circa 1900s. The scene shows five men, three at the left and one at the right and nine women at the center, with the woman at angled tables containing crates of fruit which they are sorting. The men at the left could be graders, excepting the one in the dark suit and bowler hat, who may be the manager. Lightbulbs hang on large cables from beams over each work area. An association banner hangs on the back wall and another for the California Fruit Growers Exchange is at the left. A crate next to the man seated at the right and the banner at the back both specify the "Red Shield" brand of lemons from the plant. A May 1906 article in the "Los Angeles Herald" newspaper makes reference to a single-story frame building to be built at Azusa for the association. The matte has some stains, rubbing and soiling, but the photo is clear, so the condition is good overall.
