Heavy metal datasets of organic fertilizer raw materials and commercial organic fertilizers in Inner Mongolia in 2020

Organic fertilizer is increasingly valued in the process of agricultural development. It can improve and enhance soil fertility while promoting high-quality and efficient crop production. It contains rich organic and inorganic nutrients and plays an irreplaceable role in reducing fertilizer application. The dataset includes the heavy metal content of organic fertilizer raw materials and commercial organic fertilizers in Inner Mongolia. 116 fertilizers, including chicken manure and sheep manure, were collected in the eastern and western regions of Inner Mongolia, including 74 organic fertilizer raw materials and 42 commercial organic fertilizers. Heavy metals were detected in organic fertilizer raw materials such as sheep manure, cow manure, and chicken manure. One sheep manure sample exceeded the lead standard, with a content of 373.2mg/kg. All commercial organic fertilizers have detected heavy metals but did not exceed the standard. Except for the heavy metal zinc, the heavy metals in commercial organic fertilizers are higher than those in raw materials. The heavy metal content in commercial organic fertilizers mainly produced from sheep manure is higher than that of a mixture of sheep manure and cow manure. The overall situation of organic fertilizer raw materials and commercial organic fertilizers in Inner Mongolia is good.
