This study aims to investigate the impact of fluctuating C/N ratios on the reactor performance and microbial succession of mature anammox biofilm system under low oxygen conditions. The long-term and in-suit nitrogen removal performance of mature biofilm systems was investigated. The biofilm characteristics including EPS and intracellular ROS were analyzed. The succession of microbial community was analyzed to reveal the ecological niches of functional microbes responding to the fluctuating C/N ratios.
