3) Daily food intake should cover five major food categories:
(1) Cereals and tubers;
(2) Vegetables, edible fungi and algae, and fruits;
(3) Livestock, poultry, fish, eggs and their products;
(4) Milk, dried beans, nuts, seeds and their products;
(5) Vegetable oils.
2. Daily Energy Intake Targets and Meal Distribution Ratios for College Students
The daily energy intake targets for college students are: 1900 kcal/d for female students, and 2400 kcal/d for male students. The reference values for the percentage of total daily energy allocated to each meal (i.e., meal distribution ratio) are: 30% for breakfast, and 30%–40% for both lunch and dinner.
