This is a register of temporary patients admitted to Morisset Hospital for the Insane, later known as Morisset Mental Hospital and Morisset Hospital. The patient entries are listed in order of admission date within alphabetical divisions, thus the volume is effectively an index to the Registers of temporary patients and admission books (NRS 21460) for the period March to November 1959. The earliest entries are dated 3 March 1959, the day following the proclaimed commencement date of the Mental Health Act 1958 (Act No.45, 1958), which specified certain provisions for the management of temporary patients, including their assessment by Mental Health Tribunals.There are columns for the recording of the following information relating to patients: register number (T prefix), name, date of admission, date of expiry of direction, date of ECT [Electro Convulsive Therapy], date Tribunal meets, decision (continuous treatment, discharge or temporary treatment), date on leave, and date returned.
