Dataset associated with the manuscript: Time-structured early diagenesis shapes sediment organic matter transformation and stabilization in a tropical lake This dataset contains the data supporting the results of the above manuscript submitted to Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta. The data were obtained from sediment core LZ-C1 collected from Lake Izabal and were used to establish the chronological framework and to characterize bulk geochemical composition, elemental composition, and temperature-resolved molecular transformation of sedimentary organic matter during early diagenesis. The dataset includes: Table S1. Modeled ages and associated 95% credible intervals for core LZ-C1 derived from the Bayesian 210Pb age–depth model. Table S2. Chronology, bulk geochemical, isotopic, and physical properties of core LZ-C1. Table S3. Major element concentrations (mg g−1) and derived elemental indices for core LZ-C1. Table S4. Stepwise Py–GC–MS results for core LZ-C1. These data provide the basis for reconstructing time-structured early diagenesis and molecular-level transformation of organic matter in tropical lacustrine sediments.
