Acidiferrobacter sp. SPIII_3 Genome sequencing. Acidiferrobacter sp. SPIII_3

The closest relative of SPIII/3 is Acidiferrobacter thiooxydans DSM 2392T, long time wrongly classified as Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans m-1. 16S rDNA sequence analysis indicated that the strains SPIII/3 and DSM 2392T share 99.7 % identity. However, uncultured clones with an identity of >99 % to SPIII/3 have been described. DNA-DNA hybridization values between SPIII/3 and DSM 2392T are 62 %. Here we describe the physiological and phylogenetic characteristics of isolate SPIII/3, compared with its closest relative Acidiferrobacter thiooxydans DSM 2392T and propose a new species with the name Acidiferrobacter murciensisT sp. nov.
