Research is focused on the performance improvement of HAWT rotors by retrofitting ring vanes near the hub region in front of the plane of rotation. It was a comparative study with an rotor without a ring vane as baseline versus six retrofitted rotor with different sized ring vanes. Results consisted of CFD simulation and physical testing of the rotors.
