We investigated four study plots that differ in a history of fire events in a lowland region of northwestern Russia with a DNA metabarcoding approach to assess the diversity of dark-spored myxomycetes in soils of boreal pine forest and to test the hypothesis that habitat heterogeneity created by wildfires in pine forests influences the species composition of myxomycete assemblages. Fifty-one environmental samples were sequenced on Illumina MiSeq after PCR amplification with primers targeting a 375 bp section of the nuclear 18S rDNA.
