The invention belongs to the field of forestry and woodworking， and more specifically to the field of wood splitting devices with special sliding guide plates， on which the axle base plate slides. The present invention relates to improved sliding boards for a log splitter and a log splitter with said sliding boards. The bottom line is that the sliding panels are made from a combination of base material and from 0.5 to 80% by weight of graphite or graphene， which enhances the sliding properties of the panels. The base material for the sliding boards is preferably brass， various plastics or any other suitable material. Sliding panels can be made in such a way that the base material can be mixed with graphite during the manufacturing process， or the graphite can be embedded in the form of graphite plugs or in the form of a thin layer. Alternatively， graphite can be added in the same way to the axle base plate or to the log splitter guide. This eliminates the need for lubrication of the splitter guides.
