This study aimed to characterise the soil microbiome of multiple sites throughout the Yungay Valley of the Atacama Desert, targeting the 16S rRNA gene (V3-V4 region). The soil profile (0-80 cm) was sampled after the high-magnitude rainfall recorded in 2017 over a timeseries of seven years, with the first samples collected one month after the rainfall event, and last samples collected in 2023.
