Immovable monuments entered in the register of monuments of the Podlaskie Voivodeship

A resource containing data on immovable monuments entered in the register of monuments of the Podlaskie Voivodeship created on the basis of decisions, decisions and other official information submitted to the NID (formerly ODZ, KOBiDZ) received from the provincial conservator of monuments, after the administrative proceedings concerning a given facility have been completed. Due to the long time distance from the issue of the first regulations regulating the legal protection of monuments (Decree of the Regency Council on the care of art and culture monuments, Journal of Laws 1918 No. 16 item. 36) and the evolution of these provisions in subsequent years (Regulation of the President of the Republic of Poland, Act of 6 March 1928 on the care of monuments, Act of 15 February 1962 on the protection of cultural objects and museums, Act of 23 July 2003 on the protection of monuments and the care of monuments, as well as subsequent amendments and executive acts), the resource is heterogeneous – it reflects the then rules of register of monuments, perception of historical objects and changes resulting from administrative and systemic reforms. The collection of documents held by the NID is not complete. Therefore, there may be some discrepancies between the published list of NID data and the actual state. The data concerning the list of objects, location and extent of borders have been mapped on the basis of the documents available to register the object in the register of monuments, as well as subsequent decisions and decisions submitted by the voivodship monument protection offices. In the absence of sufficient localisation information in the documents, the records stored in the NID (www.nid.pl) and other working materials were used. Information that was not possible on the basis of decisions/judgments comes from other sources, e.g. records and NID materials and is intended to reflect as up-to-date knowledge of the monuments as possible.
