Microbial dynamics on different microplastics in the coastal urban water system: the critical roles of extracellular polymeric substances

The metagenomic data were analyzed using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes (CAZy) Databases to identify the associated metabolic pathways and quantify the abundance of carbohydrate-active enzymes. It aimed to establish links between 'EPS-microbial communities' and 'EPS-biological functions' on MPs in the urban water system. This study extends our understanding of the associations between EPS secretion and microbial communities on MPs in urban water systems.
