Characterization of the endospore-forming community in marine sediments from the NE Norwegian Sea and the Laptev Sea.

Characterization of the endospore-forming microbial community in sediment samples from the Laptev Sea and NE Norwegian Sea. Endospores were induced to germinate and grow by incubating sediment samples at different temperatures between 4 and 80C for a total of 96h. Sediment was mixed with artificial seawater, Spirulina powder, and volatile fatty acids. The sediment slurries were flushed with N2 and amended with Na2S to secure reducing conditions.
