Pasteurella multocida is a bacterium associated with severe respiratory infection in young calves leading to significant economic losses in the cattle industry. We have sequenced the genomes of seven strains of Pasteurella multocida which were isolated in the UK, using a combination of technologies to provide accurate data and improve on what is currently available. Detailed genome sequence information will help identify any genes that may be associated with disease pathogenesis and severity and ultimately aid the development of diagnostic tests and future vaccines.
