Dataset: Submarine video images of Nephrops Norvegicus burrows for population assessment in Northern Galicia FU 25 (ICES Methodology)

This dataset contains curated image samples used in the Bachelor’s Thesis “Population Study of the Norway Lobster in Northern Galicia using Deep Learning and Computer Vision” (Universidade da Coruña, 2026). The dataset consists of positive images showing Nephrops norvegicus burrows and negative images depicting seabed backgrounds without burrows. The images were extracted and pre-processed from submarine video surveys as part of the thesis workflow. These data were used for training and evaluating an object detection model based on deep learning techniques, aimed at the automatic detection of burrows for population assessment purposes. All images included in this dataset correspond to pre-processed inputs used during the experimental phase of the thesis.
