Federated Digital Twins: A Systematic Literature Review of Collaboration and Coordination

This replication package accompanies “Federated Digital Twins: A Systematic Literature Review of Collaboration and Coordination”, which examines 30 publications published through 2025. The review investigates what distinguishes a federation of digital twins, how coordination and responsibilities are distributed, and what the reported evaluations demonstrate. The package provides two Excel workbooks: 01_Review_Evidence.xlsx contains the study register, data extraction, research questions, conceptual and architectural comparisons, reported results, quality-assessment judgments, and supporting evidence with source-page references. It also includes comparisons with related reviews and Excel formulas for the reported counts and arithmetic checks. 02_Search_and_Selection.xlsx contains the documented search strategies, eligibility criteria, available bibliographic records and abstracts, screening decisions, duplicate correspondences, snowballing records, and study-source assignments. The Paper outputs worksheet maps each manuscript table, figure and research question to the corresponding data and reconstruction steps. Reviewers can inspect the evidence, repeat the documented coding and calculations, and trace conclusions to their supporting studies without running scripts or macros. The package also includes a README, bibliographic references, review-authored figures and tables, and licensing information. Original records, subsequent assessments and targeted author checks are distinguished. Missing historical selection information is explicitly identified rather than reconstructed through assumptions. Publisher full-text PDFs are not redistributed. The package supports reconstruction of the review’s documented analyses, not rerunning the experiments conducted by the primary studies. The authors’ data and documentation are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Third-party metadata, abstracts and quoted passages retain their original rights.
