TUDI Project 2021-2025. Transforming Unsustainable management of soils in key agricultural systems in EU and China, Developing an integrated platform of alternatives to reverse soil degradation.
homepage: https://tudi-project.org/
TUdi is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to develop, upscale and popularize soil healing strategies in three major agricultural systems and farm typologies across Europe, China and New Zealand.
The TUDI Meta-database was compiled by the TUDI project and contains metadata on long-term soil degradation experimental datasets provided by the partners. The primary objective of compiling the TUDI Meta-database was to develop a unified repository of experimental sites and related data to be utilized throughout the project. Its purpose is to provide a controlled and consistent background for testing the digital decision support software developed within the project.
At the outset, a framework for collecting data from farms and experimental sites was established. This framework ensured consistency across partner data, standardized data formats and quality, and supported the creation and operation of the decentralized TUDI Meta-database as a shared data platform.
To enhance visibility and long-term utility, elements of the TUDI Meta-database were integrated into established European data platforms, primarily the BonaRes LTE infrastructure.
There are two complementary parts of the TUDI Meta-database: one in the EU and one in China. The TUDI Meta-database includes 52 sites (43 in the EU and 9 in China), linked to 72 experiments and nearly 600 unique treatments (i.e., experimental settings). Each experiment is accompanied by a methodological description and a list of measured soil properties. Notably, 75% of the experiments are linked to a reference publication, and 51% to a public data repository.
