资源简介:

The C, D Law Coal Permit GIS data was created as part of an effort to assist the ODNR-Division of Mineral Resources Management (DMRM) in evaluating risks from abandoned mines and determining eligibility for abandoned mine land project funding. Data generation was funded as part of Ohio's Abandoned Mine Land Program grant from the U.S. Department of Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (Pub. L. 95-87). Pre-law surface coal mining resulted in highwalls, pits, and drastically disturbed lands. Contemporary mining laws require surface mine lands to be reclaimed to approximate original contour with the capability to support the same uses as prior to mining. This C, D Law Coal Permit GIS data assists in identification of reclaimed surface mine areas that might appear to be unmined property. Abandoned mine location information is useful in general planning, development analyses, and environmental analyses. This GIS data is known to be incomplete due to missing archival records. In addition, data may be projected somewhat inaccurately due to historical limitations in survey/mapping technologies inherent in the source documents. The user should bear in mind that the data provides only an approximation of the permit and affected boundaries. The C, D Law Coal Permit GIS data should not be used to substitute for a detailed site investigation. Data Update Frequency: As Needed.
