Transcripts for study: Sickle Cell Disease in Cameroon: Taking out the “neglect” and highlighting key opportunities for sustainable control

Our manuscript, which is entitled “Sickle Cell Disease in Cameroon: Taking out the “neglect” and highlighting key opportunities for Sustainable Control” presents the perspectives of key policymakers, healthcare givers, and people living with SCD in Cameroon. We completed a seminal qualitative investigation on the existing challenges around SCD and opportunities for integration within the Cameroonian Health System, and therefore report upon the results from this research. In addition to complementing existing literature on SCD in sub-Saharan Africa and Cameroon, our research article provides evidence on existing health system gaps in the control of SCD in Cameroon and essential implications of health care delivery for SCD which could be adapted for policy and primary health care management.
