Metagenomes of Greenlandic active-layer soils

In this study, we collected 286 active layer soil samples from 65 sites along a latitude of 60.0 N-77.8 N in Greenland, distributing across wide geographic regions with diverse permafrost zones and vegetation covers. We employed amplicon sequencing of 16S rRNA gene, genome-resolved metagenomic sequencing, and absolute quantitation methods to examine microbial community structure and functional profiles. Additionally, we measured edaphic properties and retrieved climatic and vegetation factors to determine environmental drivers structuring the microbial community.
