资源简介:

Scope of regional gross domestic product Region by industry estimates for March years 2000-2023 Regional GDP industry estimates for 2000 to 2023 are based on balanced national industry data from National accounts (industry production and investment): Year ended March 2023. The industry data for this period has been “balanced” using the national accounting supply-use framework. For most industries, unit-level financial data has been utilised to aggregate to a national total (known as the “bottom-up” approach). For regional GDP these same sources are used and matched to geographic information also available at unit-level, allowing us to allocate national industry GDP figures to regions. The use of firm-level data to apply “bottom-up” methods follows international best-practice and provides the strongest source of regional data for most industries. For more information, see Regional gross domestic product: General information. Provisional estimates for the year The unit-level data sources noted above that are used to compile the national and regional industry estimates are not available for the provisional year. We therefore use other data sources that provide a regional dimension to derive industry provisional estimates that are aggregated into regional-level GDP totals. We do not regard these figures as being of the same quality as the pre-2024 balanced years, therefore we provide provisional estimates only for the region totals. The effects of cyclones and flooding to regional GDP’s 2023 estimates The March 2023 year includes the period when New Zealand was affected by torrential rains and tropical Cyclone Gabrielle in late January and mid-February. Stats NZ wishes to acknowledge the impacts on people, which include the loss of life and property. The industries most significantly affected by these natural disasters have been agriculture, forestry, and construction (the latter more so in 2024), particularly in Gisborne and the Hawkes Bay. Regional agriculture value-added is built up from regional data on agricultural activities by commodity and price, and forestry and construction data from AES data combined with LEED. We have reviewed the resulting movements and have decided there is no need to make any further methodological adjustments to capture the impact of the cyclones. Please note that the regional GDP figures only reflect the impact on value-added, not the loss of assets or insurance claims, though those will have indirect impacts going forward. Data updates We incorporated improvements and updates to national industry totals published in November 2024. These changes affect the national totals that are allocated to regions. See the 2024 preview of national accounts improvements for more information. We implemented improvements to our treatment of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in national accounts data, using new data sources as well as an updated methodology. Published unit level ETS data is used, allowing for increased accuracy in allocation to industries. The biggest impacts were within the manufacturing industries, such as Polymer product and rubber product manufacturing, Petroleum and coal product manufacturing and Dairy manufacturing. The changes are more apparent in regions with higher proportions of their value added coming from these industries. For additional information on total economy and industry impacts refer to the Updated Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) taxes methodology section of 2024 preview of national accounts improvements. We updated regional allocation proportions with new input data, which includes updated annual enterprise survey data and LEED. These updates affect the proportional allocation to regions. en-NZ
