ECONOMIC STRESS AS A SOURCE OF FAMILY CONFLICT : A STUDY OF SELECTED FAMILIES IN IHALLA MILLEWE JUNCTION AREA

Economic stress has become a significant issue affecting family stability in modern society. Financial difficulties such as unemployment, rising living costs, and debt can create tension among family members, leading to conflicts and reduced well-being. This study aimed to examine how economic stress contributes to the development of conflicts within families. The research was conducted using a survey method, collecting data from selected households to understand their financial conditions and interpersonal relationships. The findings reveal that financial instability increases emotional strain, miscommunication, and disagreements among family members. In many cases, prolonged economic stress leads to serious conflicts, affecting both marital relationships and children's well-being. The study highlighted the importance of financial management, emotional support, and social assistance in reducing family conflicts. It also suggests that addressing economic challenges can strengthen family relationships and promote social stability.
