Gender and Energy Management in the Domestic Sector in Mauritius

This paper addresses the crucial imperative of energy management by investigating the psychological determinants of Energy-Saving Intention (ESI) among individuals in Mauritius. Drawing on the widely-used Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), the theoretical model is extended to integrate key psychological factors, notably Personal Moral Norm (PMN), and to refine the components of Subjective Norm (SN), addressing a significant gap in Mauritian-specific research. The primary aim of this study is to examine the roles of gender and an extended Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) model in predicting individuals' Energy-Saving Intention (ESI) within the domestic sector in Mauritius.
