Two distinct chicken breeds, Beijing fatty and rose-comb silky were used in this study. Comb tissues from E8 were collected and ten individuals of each breed were pooled together for the RNA extraction. For testis, two 200-days old cocks were sacrificed (one individual for each breed) and testis tissues taken from each animal. The cDNA library products were ready for sequencing analysis via Illumina HiSeq⢠2000.
