Kissimmee Chain of Lakes Littoral Vegetation - 2009

This dataset serves as documentation of vegetation in the littoral zones around Ajay Lake, Alligator Lake , Brick Lake, Center Lake, Coon Lake, Cypress Lake, Gentry Lake , Hart Lake, Hatchineha Lake, Joel Lake, Kissimmee Lake, Lizzie Lake, Mary Jane Lake, Myrtle Lake, Preston Lake , Tiger Lake, LakeTohopekaliga, Trout Lake, Florida using digital aerial photography. The Vegetation communities were mapped by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) using digital aerial imagery (CIR, 12" pixel) provided by the South Florida Water Management District during April 2009. Fieldwork was documented of vegetative species and communities to ensure that imagery signatures correlated to field conditions. Photointerpretation was completed monoscopically by biologists with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and extensive ground truthing was completed to verify classifications. Each distinct community of emergent and floating vegetation was mapped according to the Florida Land Use, Cover and Forms Classification System (FLUCCS).
