资源简介:
Alternative antibiotic products are actively studied and manufactured to reduce antimicrobials in food-producing animals. Animal products are vastly leaning towards chemical-free feeds and water on the livestock to decrease any possibilities for adverse effects. This brought about a range of products onto the animal-food market, with phytogenic supplements dominating. Phytogenic compounds, such as saponins and a specifically selected blend of essential oils, the components in phytogenic feed additives (PFA) work in synergy to maintain the normal intestinal health and feed intake, thus supporting profitable production under challenging conditions. With the current information, it was evident that PFAs doesn't kill bacteria, but they interfere bacteria's communication by quorum sensing inhibition. This brings a reduction in the production of bacterial toxins. The PFA product helps to maintain feed intake and performance, particularly under conditions of enhanced challenge, supports intestinal integrity and helps to keep the host in good condition and minimise medication costs. Recent advances in sequencing technology contributed to the surge of knowledge about the complex roles of intestinal communities in overall health, including, but not limited to the intestine. Intestinal microbiota in livestock is essential for their performances, immune system developments and pathogen controls. However, despite the advance in the knowledge base, controlling the pathogen load and bacterial colonisation remains a challenge. In this study, intestinal health and immunity benefits of PFA using Biostrong supplementation in both poultry and swine production will be investigated for pathogen control and a range of other health and economic benefits.
