资源简介:
Background: The Modified Shuttle Test Paeds (MSTP) offers a practical means of assessing cardiorespiratory fitness in school-age children, addressing the need for a convenient, cost-effective test that can be implemented in pediatric population. MSTP
Purpose: This study aimed to establish normative reference scores for MSTP in school-going children.
Methods: A sample of 294 participants, accounting for a 10% dropout rate, was recruited. Consent was obtained from school principal and participants were briefed about the procedure. Data on age, height, weight, and heart rate were collected. MSTP involved running 10-meter shuttles to retrieve and deposit pebble bags in trays within a three-minute timeframe. Participants were encouraged to exert maximal effort, with scoring based on the number of bags moved.
Results: In this study, the gender distribution among participants was 51.36% male and 48.64% female. The normative reference value of MSTP was expressed in Geometric mean, mean ±Standard deviation that was 19.14 (19.28 ±3.09).
Conclusion: The normative reference values established in this study of the MSTP provide valuable insights into the cardiorespiratory fitness levels of school-going children. These findings contribute to the field by providing a practical and accessible method for assessing cardiorespiratory fitness in school-going children, thereby supporting efforts to promote health and well-being in this population.
