Genome assembly of the placozoan species Hoilungia hongkongensis. Hoilungia hongkongensis Genome

We sequenced the nuclear genome of a new placozoan species. By comparative genomics of this new genome with the genome of Trichoplax adhaerens, we describe a new species, Hoilungia hongkongensis, Eitel, Schierwater & Wörheide 2018 (Eitel et al., 2018; https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.2005359), now the second species in a new genus, based on molecular data only. The H. hongkongenis genome furthermore gives insights into speciation processes in the Placozoa and provides an additional genomic resource of placozoans for future evolutionary biology studies. The current annotation is version 2.0. Version 1 was deposited at https://bitbucket.org/molpalmuc/hoilungia-genome/src/master/sequences/. The version 2.0 annotation was generated with the BRAKER v2.1.0 pipeline as described in Eitel et al., 2018.
