The Forest Type is a model for the classification of forest areas whose objective is the definition of floristic-ecological-forestry units to be used for the knowledge of forest phytocenosis, easily used for practical purposes for the definition of forestry interventions in spatial forest planning.It is a system with clear application purpose, simplified from the vegetative point of view and enriched with dendrometric and management information. The forestry typology of the Autonomous Region Valle d’Aosta has been developed, developed and revised since 1998 as part of several Interreg projects which have led to the creation of the volume “The Forest Types of the Valle d’Aosta”. As part of the Renerfor project, in 2011, the first Forest Charter of the Autonomous Region Valle d’Aosta was created based on typology.
