Symbiosis between unicellular dinoflagellates (genus Symbiodinium) and their cnidarian hosts (e.g. corals, sea anemones) is the foundation of coral reef ecosystems.To understand the biology of Symbiodinium and its interactions with hosts, we started to develop tools and resources for Symbiodinium. Here we generated a transcriptome from axenic Symbiodinium strain SSB01 (now Breviolum minutum SSB01 ).In total, 477 gigabases of raw paired-end reads were assembled de novo into 59 669 transcripts with a mean transcript length of 1192 bp; this is designated the Symb6 library.
