Flamingos depend of the environments of pampa of the lakes to feed in winter when they migrate from other areas where the conditions become restrictives. Understanding their habits and responses to the environmental variations and trophic resources used, allows to predict losses of the biodiversity. The objective of this work was to study the diet and feeding selectivity of Phoenicoparrus andinus and Phoenicopterus chilensis, and to identify possible differences in their trophic profiles. We assessed the environmental characteristics and the available trophic source of 12 lakes where we observed feeding flocks of both flamingo species. We analysed the content of flamingo faeces and estimated possible feeding selectivity.
