this dataset encompasses the muscle transcriptomic changes elicited in quadriceps muscles of 4- vs 24-month-old mice (males + females) with a 12-week-long regimen of once-weekly ZT0 prednisone (1mg/kg i.p.) Overall design: Aged (24 months-old at treatment start) and young control (4 months-old at treatment start) male and female cohorts were obtained from the NIA Aged Rodent Colony, C57BL/6JN background. Weekly prednisone treatment consisted of once-weekly i.p. injection of 1mg/kg prednisone (#P6254; Sigma-Aldrich; St. Louis, MO) 31. The injectable solution was diluted from a 5mg/ml stock in DMSO (#D2650; Sigma-Aldrich; St. Louis, MO) in 50ml volume. Injections were conducted at the beginning of the light-phase (ZT0; lights-on). Muscles were collected 4 hours after last injection.
