Accuracy Test for SPOT GPS Units Used in the Surface Drifters Deployed in the Grand Lagrangian Deployment (GLAD) Experiment, collected 26-27 June and 3-4 July 2012 in Miami, Florida

Two dockside tests were performed to assess the accuracy of the GPS units later used in the Grand Lagrangian Deployment (GLAD) surface drifters. For this purpose, 10 units were mounted side-by-side to the stationary dock at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) of the University of Miami. Positions were recorded every 5 minutes for 12 hours each time, once starting at 22:00 EDT on 26 June 2012, the second time starting at 22:00 EDT on 3 July 2012. One GPS unit failed during the first test, yielding only 9 samples. This dataset contains the reported positions with their timestamps. They have been sorted in chronological order and duplicates have been removed. No other processing has been performed.
