Rewriting the genome of the white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. Penaeus vannamei

In the present study, we mined available data from public databases to obtain a larger and more complete genome assembly for the species by combining species-specific Pacific BioSciences (PacBio) long-reads, Illumina short reads, and genomic data from other penaeid species. This improved genome will help to understand the genetic architecture of aquaculture-relevant traits and other essential biological characteristics of the species and their relationship to the environment.
