The compound Co2SnO4 is an inverse spinel and it can be expressed as "Co2+(Co2+/Sn4+)O4. It exhibits a ferrimagnetic transition with a compensate transition around 11K due to two Co2+ (tetrahedral and octahedral) sublattices. The B site is partially occupied by non-magnetic Sn4+ and the magnetism is associated with network of Co2+ ions distributed over the A site and half of the B sites. We have grown the Co2SnO4 single crystal of size 1mm3 for the first-time using flux technique and it is ideal system to measure the Co2+ magnetism with non-magnetic Sn on the B site. Recently, we have measured the cubic and tetragonal Mn2TiO4 on the HIFI beam line (RB2310486), but due to the mixed valency state of Mn2+& Mn3+ it is challenging to understand the low temperature spin dynamics. So, we request the HIFI beam time to study the much simpler Co2SnO4 system to understand the spin dynamics.
