资源简介:
An unwashed ceramic bowl and grinding stone were submitted for starch grain and phytolith analysis from the Hovey Lake Site (12PO10), Posey County, in southwestern Indiana. These items were recovered from the floor of a burned house. The houses at the site are semisubterranean structures of wattle and daub construction. Roofs were made of grass thatch, and river cane was used for wattle, as well as making mats. The Hovey Lake village site is located at the confluence of the Wabash River and the Ohio River, and is part of the Late Mississippian culture referred to as Caborn-Welborn (A.D. 1400 -1700). The goal of the analysis is to identify plants that could have been processed and utilized in association with the ceramic bowl and grinding stone submitted for plant starch and plant phytolith analysis.
