Nollywood, Bollywood, and Hollywood revenue in West-Africa 2022

In 2022, Hollywood movies accounted for the largest share of revenue generated by the film industry in Ghana and Nigeria. Hollywood productions held 69 percent of the total share. Nollywood, on the other hand, accounted for 30 percent of the revenue. In 2020, many Hollywood productions were postponed. In addition, cinemas had to close due to the coronavirus pandemic, reopening only in Nigeria in September 2020. Overall, in anglophone West-Africa, Nigeria accounted for the largest share of revenue generated by film industries within the region.
