Baffin Island is the largest island in Canada and the fifth-largest island in the world. Administratively, it belongs to Nunavut, Canada, whose capital city Iqaluit is located on Baffin Island itself. Most of Baffin Island lies within the Arctic Circle, and it is a constituent part of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. To its east, Baffin Island faces Greenland across Baffin Bay and Davis Strait; to the south, it is separated from Quebec via Hudson Strait; to the southwest, it is isolated from the Melville Peninsula by Fury and Hecla Strait; in its western and northern regions, it is separated from other islands of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago by Foxe Basin, Boothia Bay and Lancaster Sound. Baffin Island is situated between 61°51′35″N and 73°51′41″N latitude, and 90°6′41″W and 61°15′41″W longitude. The island extends in the northwest-southeast direction, with a length of approximately 1,590 km and a width ranging from 175 km to 786 km. Its total area under Albers projection is 509,508.12 km², and its total coastline length under Lambert projection is 37,027.79 km. Iqaluit Airport is located near the town and is operated by the Government of Nunavut. This dataset was compiled based on Google Earth satellite imagery and relevant maps, consisting of 26 data files stored in .kmz and .shp formats. The uncompressed total data size is 156 MB, and when compressed into 3 data files, the total size is 62.7 MB.
