Butterfly abundance data of four different short rotation coppice (SRC) life stages

The dataset contains abundance data of butterfly species captured with coloured canopy Malaise traps in four different life stages of short rotation coppices (SRC): harvested, young (2 year old), mature (3 year old) and old (4 year old). In each life stage, three Malaise traps were placed (3 sites per life stage). The traps were active for two weeks, each in May, June, July and August. The samples were collected to compare the butterfly richness and abundance between the life stages. Butterflies were identified by an entomological expert to species level. Furthermore, the dataset comprises the wet mass of the butterfly individuals per species and sample, weighed with a precision scale (0.001 g)
