The Departmental Natural Sensitive Spaces of the Gard

The Department owns sensitive departmental natural areas on 4000 hectares, some of which are open to the public, 9,000 kilometres of trails classified under the Departmental Plan of Walking and Hiking Routes (PDIPR) including 3000 under departmental management. To acquire, maintain and enhance these sites, the Department uses its right of pre-emption and mobilises revenue from the departmental share of the development tax levied on building permits.
